Margaret deserves leadership that’s trained, tested, and ready to deliver results. That’s why I’ve invested countless hours into the Alabama League of Municipalities (ALM) Certified Municipal Official Program — earning Basic and Advanced certificates in my first term, and getting a jump start on my Emeritus certification. I’ve completed numerous courses in municipal budgeting, zoning, workforce development, economic planning, public safety, and more.
The ALM is more than a professional network – it’s a powerhouse of knowledge, resources, and advocacy for every city in Alabama. From helping towns secure infrastructure grants to guiding smart growth strategies, the League equips municipal leaders to turn ideas into action.
One of ALM’s most exciting opportunities is the Economic Development Academy – a year-long program that trains mayors and local leaders to attract investment, create jobs, and grow communities sustainably. I tried to bring Margaret into this program before, but it requires the mayor’s participation – and I was shut down.
As your next Mayor, I will make sure we don’t miss out again. I will lead Margaret through the Economic Development Academy, bringing back the tools, partnerships, and proven strategies to grow our economy the right way – with planning, purpose, and transparency.
