MCC Information Request

Timeline and Full Transparency

Recently, I received an information request from the MCC. As part of my commitment to transparency, I am sharing their request, my responses, and the relevant documents so the public can review the full context.

Timeline of Events

February 26, 2026 – Initial Contact

MCC’s attorney, Eric Hutchins, first contacted the City requesting to be placed on the March 2nd council agenda and raising concerns regarding city finances .

February 27, 2026 – My Response

I responded the following day, addressing the concerns and offering to provide financial records and context.

In that response, I made clear:

  • I was willing to provide full financial information
  • The claims being made lacked context
  • The City’s expenditures include prior obligations and restricted funds
  • Records and reports were already being published publicly

I also offered multiple options, including:

  • Public comment at the meeting
  • Agenda placement
  • Providing documents in advance for review

March 1, 2026 (Sunday) – Formal Records Request

On Sunday afternoon-just before the Monday council meeting-I received a formal Open Records Request from Mr. Hutchins on behalf of MCC .

March 4, 2026 – Official Response to Records Request

The City formally responded and identified all responsive records, including:

  • Financial balance sheet summaries
  • Audit reports (2015–2024)
  • Police department personnel records (rank and compensation)
  • Employment handbook documentation

The total volume of responsive documents was approximately 475 pages. We included a few additional reports and documents to have clarify information and allegations from the letter.

The Documents Provided

Due to the size of the records, they are available at the link below:

As requested, this same information has also been provided directly to their attorney.

Additional Context Provided

In addition to the requested materials, I also shared:

  • Historical information about police leadership in Margaret
  • Public articles documenting prior issues with records access

This context is important because transparency is not just about responding-it’s about improving how government operates.

Commitment to Transparency

Public records belong to the public. My role is to ensure access-not create barriers.

My position remains simple:

  • If it’s public, I will help provide it
  • If it exists, I will point you to it
  • If it does not exist, I will say so clearly

Moving Forward

There have been claims and concerns raised. That comes with public service.

But the appropriate response is documentation-not speculation.

That is what I have provided here.

I will continue to operate with transparency, stand on what I ran on, and ensure the public has access to the information it deserves.
