🕵️‍♂️ Let’s have a little fun while we set the record straight.
Rumor #1: Matt’s Going to Fire the Whole Police Department 🚓🔥
False. Laughably false. Aside from the fact that I’m not campaigning on any police or fire reform, here’s a legal nugget: the Mayor of Margaret can’t appoint department heads. That authority was removed by the Council in 2012 via Ordinance 2012-115A – meaning the Council appoints all officers, not the Mayor.

If someone on the city payroll is spreading that lie while working, they’re not just being dishonest – they’re breaking Title 36, which prohibits city employees from politicking on the job. Public trust begins with public integrity. If you can’t follow Title 36, how can residents trust you with anything more? It’s not just unethical. It’s illegal. Smart public servants know the law — and follow it.

Rumor #2: He Wants to Shut Down the Dew Drop In đźš«
Nope. I haven’t mentioned the Dew Drop In in my campaign, and frankly, I’ve only mentioned it in my entire time on the Council when it was on the agenda. Why would I shut down a local, tax-paying business? It’s a classic example of fear-mongering when facts fail. Supporting small business is key to Margaret’s growth – not shutting them down.
Rumor #3: He Wants to Turn the Whole City into an HOA 🏡
Come on now. That’s not how HOAs work – and even if it were, I’ve never said, implied, or imagined anything remotely close to this. The idea that one person can unilaterally convert an entire city into a private HOA isn’t just absurd… it’s legally impossible and civics-class-level wrong.
So what is the truth?
The truth is simple: When a campaign can’t stand on its own merit, it tries to tear down others with nonsense. But here’s the good news – if they’re making up lies this wild, it means they know we’re winning.
I’m running on transparency, planning, and getting Margaret on track – not conspiracies. If you ever hear a rumor, come to me. I’ll always give you the truth – with a side of receipts.
Because Margaret deserves a campaign based on facts, not fear.

🗳️ Do what’s right – not what’s convenient.
