Tonight, I had the honor of attending Attorney General Steve Marshall’s campaign kickoff for the U.S. Senate — a strong showing of leadership, principle, and vision. As someone who’s spent years standing up for Margaret’s families, I was encouraged to hear Steve speak with conviction about defending the Constitution, protecting citizens, and ensuring government accountability.
In our conversation, I brought him greetings from St. Clair County and shared just how much support he has right here in our home. But more importantly, we spoke about issues near and dear to Margaret.
While there, I had the opportunity to discuss some of the challenges we’re facing in Margaret — particularly when it comes to public records access and accountability in local government. It was valuable to connect with someone who has long championed transparency, lawful governance, and the rights of citizens. I walked away encouraged and more determined than ever to uphold those same values in our city.
When I launched this campaign, I made a promise: to bring new leadership to Margaret that’s not only responsive, but connected — from the neighborhood to the statehouse. I said we’d have a mayor who shows up, who builds relationships, and who gets support at every level of government to move Margaret forward. Tonight was another step in keeping that promise.
Steve Marshall’s message of standing strong for the First Amendment, for law enforcement, and for Alabama’s future resonates deeply with me — because I’ve lived it. I’ve been the voice pushing back when our rights were ignored. I’ve stood up for transparency when others tried to block the truth. And I’ve worked day and night to ensure Margaret is no longer left behind.
I’m grateful for Attorney General Marshall’s example and look forward to seeing the support he brings to all of Alabama — especially to the communities like ours that have too often been overlooked. The road ahead is challenging, but with partnerships, principles, and persistence, we will get Margaret moving forward.
Let’s keep going. Let’s keep building. Let’s keep fighting for a Margaret that works for everyone.
