You know the saying: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But projection? That’s the most revealing form of mudslinging. I truly wish I didn’t have to debunk these lies.
This week’s attacks are classic projection. Let’s break it down:

👉 My opponents accused me of financial misconduct with the Brookhaven HOA.
Fact: The HOA’s finances are managed by a professional company. No officer -including me -has access to the funds. Every dollar spent requires a submitted expense report and approval for reimbursement. That’s called structure and accountability -two things City Hall desperately needs.

👉 My opponents cried foul when I called for a forensic audit of the city – forgetting that Mayor Howard and the City Clerk both confirmed over $400,000 was unaccounted for or misappropriated when he took office. The former clerk even stole the city laptop containing the financials. I called for an audit not because it was convenient – but because it was necessary. If they still want to audit the HOA, I welcome it -transparency isn’t something, I fear. But those that were on the council when this money was misappropriated are very scared.
👉 My opponents claim I’m the one bringing children into politics – but it’s the mayor’s associates and another council member who’ve repeatedly done that, not me. And yes, I’ve got the receipts. The video has subtitles.
Reminder: If you don’t like how you look on camera, maybe stop acting that way. Period.
👉 My opposition claim I only care about my subdivision.
But I’ve consistently advocated for my entire district – withstanding unrelenting prejudice to push for real planning and functional processes. Meanwhile, their favors-for-friends approach continues unchecked. How many driveways have been paved while real infrastructure goes ignored – simply because I’m not in their club?
👉 The Mayor says I bring people to speak for me – but we all know I speak for myself.
Yet the meetings are filled with proxy voices, unchallenged chants, and orchestrated disruption. We’ve all seen the mayor’s associate jingling keys mid-meeting to disrupt speakers – a tactic meant to distract, not facilitate. When residents from my district raise well-grounded concerns, they’re harassed or escorted out. That’s not transparency. That’s intimidation.
👉 My opponents accuse me of creating division.
But refusing to collaborate, then blaming others for dysfunction, isn’t leadership – it’s avoidance. If a system is broken, the problem starts at the top. Leadership means listening, not silencing – including residents voicing their frustrations at Council Meetings. It means offering solutions, not just scapegoats. I was the only one to follow this advice.
Let’s be clear: Projection isn’t just petty – it’s corrosive. It twists truth, attacks accountability, and treats leadership like a game of blame. Its goal is to confuse, manipulate, and distract from the root of the problem. Even worse, when projection is paired with gaslighting the public, it becomes toxic – eroding trust and silencing truth.
Margaret deserves better than “do as I say, not as I do.”
We need a City Hall grounded in planning, transparency, and grown-up conversations -not distraction and denial.
They’ve had decades. I’ve had enough.
